Adhere to the formula-to-water ratio recommended by your avian vet based on your bird's age. Do not microwave. Let it cool to lukewarm. Chicks with open eyes should be fed 3-4 times a day, while those with emerging feathers should be fed 2-3 times daily.
Step 3: Using an irrigation syringe is usually the most effective method. When facing the bird, position the syringe to enter the oral cavity from the left side of the bird’s beak and aim towards the right side of the neck. Deliver the food into the bird’s mouth, and as it swallows, the normal feeding reflex will close off the trachea, preventing aspiration of the formula into the lungs.
Step 4: Feed the bird until the crop is full but not overly stuffed, and clean any excess formula from the bird’s beak, feathers, and enclosure.

GUIDE AMOUNTS:
If you are new to hand-feeding young birds, consult an avian vet for proper proportions.
