Product description

USES Year-round blend suitable for conures, lories, quakers, cockatiels, lovebirds, doves, and other small to medium-sized parrots. Conversion: All birds should initially be placed on the High Potency Formula and continue for a minimum of 6 months. Special needs: Ideal for birds that are moulting, overweight, underweight, very active, living in cooler climates, recovering from illness, or suffering from liver or kidney issues. Weaning birds: Provide High Potency Formula for at least 6-9 months. Breeding birds: Should be given High Potency Formula 1-2 months before breeding and continue until chicks are weaned or for at least six months before switching back to the Adult Lifetime Formula. The amount of certified organic fruits and vegetables can be increased until the chicks are fully weaned. For every 2 Tbs (20 g) of formula, mix in ½ (5 g) Tbs of certified organic sunflower seeds. Storage: Harrison's Bird Foods are free from artificial preservatives. Once opened, consume the contents within 8 weeks. Storing the food in the refrigerator or freezer helps retain its freshness.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS Offer fresh food daily without "topping off." To minimize waste, serve as separate meals. Birds can eat as much as they desire, but refer to the following guidelines for approximate feeding amounts of High Potency Fine (HPF) along with additional foods:

  • Budgie: 1.5 - 3g (1 - 2 tsp) of HPF, ½ - 1 tsp additional foods
  • Cockatiel / Lovebird: 2 - 5g (1.5 - 3 tsp) of HPF, ½ - 1 tsp additional foods
  • Quaker: 3 - 7g (2 - 4 tsp) of HPF, 1 - 1.5 tsp additional foods
  • Lory* / Conure: 5 - 9g (3 - 5 tsp) of HPF, 1 - 2 tsp additional foods
  • Dove / Pigeon: 5 - 15g (½ - 1.5 tbs) of HPF, 1 - 2 tsp additional foods
  • Mynah: 20 - 100g (2 - 10 tbs) of HPF, 1 - 6 tsp additional foods

*For lories, soak the formula in 2 tbs of water and ½ tsp of corn syrup.

FEEDING OF ADDITIONAL ITEMS Harrison's products should constitute 75-80% of your bird’s overall diet. It is advisable that 15-20% of the total diet consists of high-quality, preferably organic, vegetables and fruits. Dark yellow or green leafy options like sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, parsley, spinach, mango, or papaya are particularly beneficial. Additionally, around 5% of the overall diet should come from high-quality, ideally organic sources rich in omega-3s, such as chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, or certain nuts. Consult this article for more insights on the advantages of incorporating these items.

It is not recommended to supplement with vitamins or other bird or animal dietary products. [For birds with suspected iron-storage disease: Avoid citrus fruits, tomatoes, kiwi, strawberries, and other foods containing vitamin C. Refrain from feeding grapes, currants, raisins, liver, red meat, egg yolk, or dark leafy vegetables like spinach, which may have high iron levels.]
