DIRECTIONS: Step 1: Gently check the crop to ensure it is nearly empty prior to feeding. Step 2: Combine fresh Juvenile Hand-Feeding Formula with bottled “drinking water” heated to about 103°F (39°C). Follow the recommended ratio of formula to water as advised by your avian veterinarian based on your bird's age. Do not use a microwave. Let it cool to a lukewarm temperature. Chicks with their eyes open should be fed 3-4 times daily, while those with emerging feathers should be fed 2-3 times daily. Step 3: Using an irrigation syringe is likely the most effective feeding method. While facing the bird, insert the syringe into the oral cavity from the left side of the beak, directing it towards the right side of the neck. Deliver the food into the bird’s mouth, and as it swallows, the natural feeding reflex closes the trachea, preventing the formula from entering the lungs. Step 4: Feed the bird until the crop is adequately filled, but not excessively so, and wipe away any excess formula from the bird’s beak, feathers, and the enclosure.
