Veterinary Formula Flea and Tick Shampoo features up to three times the active ingredients compared to other brands. This specially formulated shampoo for cats and dogs includes pyrethrum, a natural insecticide that effectively kills and manages fleas and ticks upon contact. It also provides relief from irritation caused by bites while gently cleansing and exfoliating your pet’s skin and coat.

Fleas:

Dogs and other warm-blooded animals are particularly susceptible to fleas in warm climates or during the summer when temperatures rise and humidity increases. They can acquire fleas from other pets or their surroundings. Fleas utilize their powerful hind legs to jump onto a "host" (your dog) and then bite, leading to itching, hair loss, and hot spots that can cause inflamed lesions or even skin infections. You may also observe small dark specks on your pet, which are flea feces made from digested blood.

Female fleas can survive for several weeks on your pet, laying between 20-30 eggs daily. While some of these eggs may hatch into larvae on your pet, others will fall off into your home, where they will feed on skin scales and other organic materials. It is essential for pet owners to treat both their dog and their home environment, inside and out. Ticks:

Ticks are parasitic arachnids that latch onto and feed from warm hosts, including your dog. They are commonly found in wooded areas, tall grass, and various plants. Dogs that spend significant time outdoors are at an increased risk of encountering ticks. Once attached, a tick can embed its mouth into your pet's skin and begin to feed on blood, sometimes for several days. Beyond being unpleasant, ticks pose a significant risk to both pets and humans due to their potential to transmit diseases such as Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Babesiosis. A tick bite can also lead to anemia, joint swelling, fever, and paralysis. If you observe any signs of illness in your pet and suspect a tick bite, please consult your veterinarian without delay. Always check your pet for ticks after outdoor activities, especially in wooded areas.

Pyrethrum: This natural insecticide and pest repellent is made from chrysanthemum, utilizing the dried flower heads. While effective, exposure to pyrethrum may occasionally result in itching, redness, sneezing, or other skin reactions.
Paraben-Free: Parabens can mimic estrogen in the body, leading to potential health risks. Our formulas are paraben-free to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of your pet.
pH Balanced: Pets have sensitive skin that requires pH balanced care. Human shampoos are formulated at a lower pH (more acidic) and should not be applied to pets.
Soap-Free: Our formulas utilize only the mildest, naturally derived cleansers, without harsh soaps or damaging detergents.
Kills Fleas & Ticks on Contact: Formulated with pyrethrum for optimal flea control.

Before using, please read the entire label. It is against Federal Law to use this product in any way not directed on the label. When bathing your pet, avoid contact with their eyes. Use a cloth or sponge to wash around their eyes. Wear rubber gloves when applying the shampoo. Thoroughly wet your pet's coat with warm water and apply enough shampoo to create a lather, working it through the fur. For best results, let the lather sit on the skin for five to ten minutes before rinsing. Do not reapply for 7 days. Avoid using on nursing puppies under 12 weeks. Consult your veterinarian before using on sick, elderly, pregnant, or nursing animals, or animals on medication.
