Product description

This all-year-round maintenance blend fulfills the dietary needs of healthy, non-breeding, non-moulting birds, including Pionus, Amazons, cockatoos, macaws, and other medium to large parrots. An Adult Lifetime formula can be introduced after a bird has followed a High Potency formula diet for a duration of 6 months. This formula is also suitable for birds with specific dietary sensitivities.

Storage: Harrison's Bird Foods are free from artificial preservatives. Once opened, a bag should be consumed within 8 weeks. To ensure freshness, it's best to store the food in the refrigerator or freezer.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS
Provide fresh food daily, and avoid "topping off." To minimize waste, serve as separate meals. Birds can eat as much as they wish, but the following amounts can serve as a guideline:

  • Pionus: 10 - 15g (1 - 1½ tbs) of ALC, ½ - 1 tsp additional foods
  • Amazon: 15 - 30g (1½ - 3 tbs) of ALC, 1 - 2 tsp additional foods
  • Eclectus: 15 - 30g (1½ - 3 tbs) of ALC, 1½ - 2 tsp additional foods
  • Cockatoos (large): 15 - 30g (1½ - 5 tbs) of ALC, 2 - 3 tsp additional foods
  • Macaws (large): 20 - 60g (2 - 6 tbs) of ALC, 2 - 4 tsp additional foods

FEEDING OF ADDITIONAL ITEMS
Harrison's products should constitute 75-80% of your bird's diet by volume. It's advisable to have 15-20% of the overall diet come from high-quality, preferably organic, vegetables and fruits. Dark yellow meaty or dark green leafy foods such as sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, parsley, spinach, mango, or papaya are particularly beneficial. Additionally, it is suggested that 5% of the overall diet should consist of high-quality, ideally organic, ingredients that are rich in omega-3s, such as chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, or certain nuts. For more details on the importance and advantages of incorporating these items, please refer to this article.

It is not advisable to supplement with vitamins or other bird or animal supplements.

[For birds with suspected iron-storage disease: Avoid citrus fruits, tomatoes, kiwi, strawberries, and other foods containing vitamin C. Also, refrain from grapes, currants, raisins, liver, red meat, egg yolk, or dark green vegetables like spinach, which may have high iron content.]
