These high-efficiency hang-on protein skimmers are specifically designed to be mounted on the edge of your fish tank. While the design of protein skimmers is quite straightforward, they perform a crucial function in maintaining the health of your aquarium. Each skimmer is equipped with a submersible needle pump that employs needle-wheel technology to create ultra-fine bubbles. The surface tension generated by these bubbles captures organic waste, which is then transported up the column and collected in a cup for easy disposal. All of our protein skimmers come with an included needle wheel venturi pump. This specialized pump draws in air through the venturi air pipe, and as water passes through the needle wheel impeller, it breaks the incoming bubbles into a delicate mist. This results in enhanced skimming performance. Please make sure that the skimmer outlet pipes are completely submerged to ensure proper operation. The water level should not fall below the maximum depth indicated below. These skimmers are also suitable for sump applications (as a hang-on).
