EHEIM ACTIVE
High-performance active filter carbon, particularly effective following medication treatments.
Adsorptive filter media
Adsorption refers to the process of accumulating substances (as opposed to absorption). Adsorptive filter media are designed to eliminate harmful elements from the water by accumulating or binding them. This includes chlorine from tap water, medication residues, cleaning agents, pesticides, dyes, and more.
Tip:
Adsorptive filter media should be utilized for a limited duration, typically a few weeks. Since harmful substances adhere to the media, they may eventually re-enter the water. Therefore, regular replacement is essential. Adsorptive filtering is generally required during the initial setup phase of the aquarium or following medication use.
EHEIM AKTIV
Highly efficient active filter carbon, especially recommended after treatment with medications.
EHEIM AKTIV is acid-washed and activated to facilitate rapid water absorption (active surface area of 1200 m²/g). This activated carbon quickly binds chemical contaminants such as pesticides, medication remnants, and other substances in substantial quantities, resulting in crystal-clear aquarium water. Its use is crucial after administering medications to aquarium inhabitants.
EHEIM AKTIV should only be employed for a temporary period (approximately 4 weeks) before being removed or replaced.
In the filter's layered structure, EHEIM AKTIV is positioned directly after the mechanical filter media (e.g., EHEIM MECH or MECHpro) and the biological media (e.g., SUBSTRATpro) within the provided net bag.
