Special technology for pristine water and thriving fish:
In a UV sterilizer, aquarium water is passed as a thin film past a UV-C lamp (burner). The UV-C radiation penetrates the water, eliminating microorganisms, algae spores, and other tiny organisms. Conventional technology typically irradiates water from only one side. In contrast, EHEIM incorporates a reflector that allows the reflected radiation to penetrate the water from multiple angles. This design enables reeflexUV to achieve a notably higher performance level.
Additionally, the EHEIM reeflexUV features a straightforward water flow system. The water flows around the burner without unnecessary detours, ensuring no performance loss.
The AUTO OFF function guarantees optimal safety. Since UV-C radiation can be harmful to skin and eyes, reeflexUV automatically shuts off when the device is opened.
What to keep in mind: The bacterial count in an aquarium is typically higher than in natural waters due to the limited volume of water. It’s beneficial to reduce this count and return it to normal levels. However, the aquarium water should never be entirely free of bacteria. The UV sterilizer captures only floating bacteria, while established cleaning bacteria in the filter (supporting biological filtration) and bacteria in the substrate remain unaffected.
Turbidity in the water, resulting from bacteria or floating algae, is removed efficiently through UV sterilization. Essentially, algae growth is suppressed as the spores are exterminated. UV sterilizers generally promote healthier fish by diminishing the risk of infection. A UV sterilizer is particularly recommended for breeding tanks, as harmful pathogens can cling to eggs or infect young fish that lack sufficient resistance.
UV sterilization does not alter water parameters.
