Product description Water exits the aquarium through an overflow chamber or another device, such as an AB Aqua Medic Overflow Box, and flows into the filter. The water is then split at a T-junction. One portion is sent to the Turboflotor Shorty Compact, while the remaining water passes directly through a mechanical sponge filter to the wet/dry biological filter. You can adjust the water flow between the skimmer and biofilter using two ball valves. After passing through the protein skimmer, the water proceeds to a second, smaller mechanical filter and wet/dry biofilter unit. From the biofilters, the water drains into the filter sump. The Nitratereductor and Calciumreactor receive water via a bypass system. This water is drawn from the pressure tube that pumps the purified water back up to the tank. To enhance the water supply for these filters, a dosing pump (SP 3000) can be utilized. The top-up tank containing refill water is situated within the filter sump on a plastic base. The refill mechanism (peristaltic pump SP 3000) is equipped with a level sensor and should be installed above the storage tank. The level sensor is secured in the filter tank and indicates the optimal water level in the filter sump. During the installation of pumps and plumbing, it’s crucial to avoid creating resonance bodies, as these can lead to unpleasant noises depending on the type of pumps used. The external filtration system, Reef 2000, is housed in a separate glass tank. The Turboflotor 5000 Shorty Compact skimmer and both return pumps are positioned adjacent to the glass tank. The overall dimensions are 155 x 45 x 62 cm (L x W x H). The system includes the following components: 1. Glass tank with dimensions of 90 x 45 x 40 cm (L x W x H). 2. Protein skimmer Turboflotor 5000 Shorty Compact featuring a post-switched mechanical filter (sponge) and a biological wet/dry trickle filter filled with Bactoballs. 3. A second mechanical pre-filter sponge with a smaller post-switched wet/dry trickle filter, also filled with Bactoballs. 4. Nitratereductor NR 1000 with an integrated circulation pump. 5. Calciumreactor KR 1000 with an integrated circulation pump. 6. Two circulation pumps Ocean Runner OR 3500. 7. Refill pump SP 3000, equipped with a level sensor. 8. Nitratreductor NR 1000 Denitrification filter for aquariums up to 1000 litres (c. 250 gallons)   The Nitratreductor is an anaerobic biological reactor for removing nitrates from marine and freshwater aquaria. It has a 10 l (c. 4.5 gals) volume and an internal circulation pump. The Nitratereductor works with a flow rate of 1 to 4 l/hr (c. 0.25 to 1 gph). In the absence of oxygen this situation promotes bacteria that metabolize nitrate. Denimar powder or Deniballs are used as an organic energy source. The Nitratereductor is a closed unit that can be integrated into filter systems, but may also be installed to stand alone under the aquarium. To monitor this process, it is possible to use a redox potential controller (ORP controller) in conjunction with an electrode inserted in the inbuilt PG13.5 port or the SP 3000 Dosing Pump (supplied) can be connected for a fully controlled system. Dimensions excluding electrode (l x w x h): 17 x 17 x 54 cm (c. 7” x 7” x 22”)Accessories: Denimar powder and Deniballs to feed the anaerobic bacteriaAqua Medic mV Controller or Aqua Medic mV Computer c/w pressure resistant mV (Redox or ORP) probe with PG13.5 threaded connection. The Aqua Medic midiflotor is an air-driven counter-current internal protein skimmer designed for aquariums with a capacity of up to 400 liters. It features a unique double reaction pipe that makes it an effective counter-flow skimmer. Air bubbles ascend within the inner pipe, and similar to an air lift, they carry a significant amount of water along with them. This water is then directed downward through the outer pipe. The air bubbles travel with the water stream until they reach the expansion cone, where they reverse direction and rise in the counter-current. This design results in a notably extended detention time for the bubbles in the water. Additionally, it comes equipped with a lime wood air diffuser that generates very fine air bubbles. There is also a holding plate that accommodates a redox electrode. For optimal air supply, we recommend using the Mistral 300 membrane air pump (sold separately). Technical data for Aqua Medic midiflotor: Diameter: approximately 57.5 cm Length: approximately 52 cm Total width: approximately 15 cm Immersion depth: approximately 30 - 35 cm
