It can also aid in transitioning birds to a formulated diet, be concealed as a foraging incentive, and serve as a method for administering liquid medications. This product provides a convenient way to help hospitalized or boarding birds adapt until they accept the appropriate formulated diet. Additionally, it can be moistened and given to birds feeding chicks as a soft food or used as a weaning food to facilitate the switch to a formulated diet. FEEDING DIRECTIONS It may constitute up to 30% of the daily diet. To bake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Combine the entire bag of mix with 2 whole organic eggs (without the shell; remove yolk for lower fat content), 15 ml of high-quality organic vegetable oil, and 1 cup (235 ml) of water. Pour the mixture into a greased bread pan or muffin tins and bake for 25-35 minutes. Avoid using non-stick (PTFE-coated) cookware, as the fumes can be harmful to birds. If you add fruits, vegetables, or nuts, consider Bird Bread a "treat" and limit it to no more than 10% of the total daily food allowance when combined with other treats. It can be served warm, and certain flavorings (like vanilla or maple) or herbs may be added, provided they do not alter the nutritional content. Once baked, Bird Bread can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or in the freezer for as long as 6 weeks.
