Product description

USES

This year-round blend is perfect for conures, lories, quakers, cockatiels, lovebirds, doves, and other small to medium-sized parrots.

Conversion: All birds should begin their diet with the High Potency Formula and continue for at least 6 months.

Special needs: Ideal for birds that are molting, overweight, underweight, highly active, living in cooler climates, recovering from illness, or dealing with liver or kidney issues.

Weaning birds: Maintain the High Potency Formula for a duration of 6-9 months.

Breeding birds: Feed the High Potency Formula 1-2 months prior to breeding and continue until chicks are weaned, or for a minimum of six months before switching back to Adult Lifetime Formula. The amount of certified organic vegetables and fruits can be increased until the chicks are fully weaned. For every 2 Tbs (20 g) of Formula, mix in ½ (5 g) Tbs of certified organic sunflower seeds.

Storage: Harrison's Bird Foods are free from artificial preservatives. After opening, it is recommended to consume a bag within 8 weeks. Storing the food in the refrigerator or freezer can help maintain its freshness.

FEEDING DIRECTIONS

Provide fresh food daily, and avoid "topping off." To minimize waste, serve as separate meals. Birds can eat as much as they desire, but refer to the following guidelines for approximate feeding amounts of High Potency Fine (HPF) along with additional foods:

  • Budgie: 1½ - 3g (1 - 2 tsp) of HPF and ½ - 1 tsp of additional foods
  • Cockatiel / Lovebird: 2 - 5g (1½ - 3 tsp) of HPF and ½ - 1 tsp of additional foods
  • Quaker: 3 - 7g (2 - 4 tsp) of HPF and 1 - 1½ tsp of additional foods
  • Lory* / Conure: 5 - 9g (3 - 5 tsp) of HPF and 1 - 2 tsp of additional foods
  • Dove / Pigeon: 5 - 15g (½ - 1½ tbs) of HPF and 1 - 2 tsp of additional foods
  • Mynah: 20 - 100g (2 - 10 tbs) of HPF and 1 - 6 tsp of additional foods

*For lories, soak the formula in 2 tbs of water and ½ tsp of corn syrup.

FEEDING OF ADDITIONAL ITEMS

Harrison's products should constitute 75-80% of your bird's diet by volume. It's suggested that 15-20% of the overall diet includes high-quality, preferably organic, vegetables and fruits. Items like sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, parsley, spinach, mango, and papaya are particularly beneficial.

Moreover, aim for 5% of the total diet to consist of high-quality, ideally organic sources rich in omega-3s, such as chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, or select nuts. For more insights on the advantages of these additions, refer to our detailed article.

It is advisable to avoid supplementing with vitamins or other bird or animal supplements.

[For birds believed to have iron-storage disease: Steer clear of citrus fruits, tomatoes, kiwi, strawberries, and other foods containing vitamin C. Avoid grapes, currants, raisins, liver, red meat, egg yolk, and dark green vegetables like spinach, as they may have high iron levels.]
