Topinsect wax moth larvae are extremely nutritious due to their high percentage of dry material and fat. Their softness makes them an easily eaten and digestible insect. Topinsects wax moth larvae are bred on a partly natural (among which bee honey) and a partly artificial medium without any added growth promoters or chemicals. Crickets have a high nutritional value (see table) and moreover, due to their harder armor, they have the property to clean the intestinal system of young birds by dragging along the excess mucus in the intestine during the intestinal transit. This is especially important with purely insect-eating birds. House crickets, band crickets, steppe crickets and field crickets are usually used. Buffalo worms are the larvae of alphitobius diaperinus and are very nutritious due to their high protein content and low fat content. The taste of these worms is also quite tasty (tastes like nuts); smaller birds in particular love it. Buffalo worms are also less hard than mealworms and therefore more digestible.
