Feeding Instructions: Store live mealworms in a container that allows for proper ventilation. Distribute Mealworm Keeper evenly in the container, using about 1 cup for every 250 live mealworms to act as their main food and bedding source. In addition to Mealworm Keeper, offer raw potatoes or raw carrots to provide moisture in their diet. Exotic Nutrition’s Thirsty Cricket is another option for a drown-free water source. Keeping live mealworms in a refrigerator at 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit can induce dormancy for up to 10 weeks. Once a week, take mealworms out of the refrigerator to revive them for feeding. Let them eat for 24 hours at room temperature, then remove any uneaten raw food and refresh the bedding before returning them to the refrigerator for extended storage. Feeder insects might lose some nutritional value after being dormant for several weeks. It’s advisable to gut load insects 1-2 days before feeding them to ensure they offer maximum nutrition. Gut loading involves providing insects with a nutrient-rich diet before they are fed to other animals. To gut load, mix a high-protein food source like Exotic Nutrition's Mealworm Chow with your Mealworm Keeper ahead of feeding. Additionally, consider sprinkling a multivitamin or calcium supplement on the insects before feeding to prevent calcium deficiencies. Contains: wheat bran
