The Exo Terra Stone Desert replicates the authentic soil found in dry environments such as deserts or savannahs. Typically, desert soils consist of more than just sand; they include a mix of sand, decomposed granite, and clay, resulting in unique and sometimes vibrant rock formations. With Exo Terra’s Stone Desert, you can craft your own desert or savannah environment, featuring cool-humid burrows and warmer elevated basking spots. The cool-humid burrows enable your reptiles to absorb essential moisture through their skin while resting or hiding, while the warmer elevated basking areas assist your reptiles in thermoregulating by providing crucial temperature gradients. Gently moisten the Stone Desert substrate to shape realistic hills, burrows, and basking platforms for your pets. Once it dries, the Stone Desert will hold its form, while still allowing your reptiles to continue their natural digging and burrowing behaviors. You can cover the entire floor area with landscaped Stone Desert, or design landscaped sections and fill the remaining terrarium floor with Exo Terra Stone Desert or Exo Terra Desert Sand. Stone Desert can also be utilized to stabilize heavier decor items, such as branches or rock formations.
