Reptiles and amphibians are ectothermic, meaning they rely on their environment to regulate their body temperature. In nature, they often seek out sun-warmed surfaces to heat up. The Exo Terra Heat Mat functions as a terrarium substrate heater that mimics these sun-warmed surfaces. Exo Terra’s Heat Mats serve as an excellent primary or secondary heat source for both tropical and temperate reptile and amphibian species, and they are particularly vital as a nighttime heat source for numerous desert species. The Exo Terra Heat Mat adheres permanently to the terrarium, creating a strong bond for optimal heat transfer. It can be paired with an Exo Terra Thermostat and/or additional heat sources for those species that require higher temperatures.
