This additional prefilter captures most coarse dirt particles before the water reaches the external filter. Its base is designed to sit securely on the bottom of the aquarium. Water is drawn in from all sides, across a broad surface area, through the modular filter baskets that can be filled with filter media and are easy to clean and replace. For maintenance, you can simply take out the filter baskets.
