FEEDING OF ADDITIONAL ITEMS: Harrison's products should constitute 75-80% of your bird's overall diet. It is advisable that 15-20% of the diet comprises high-quality, preferably organic, vegetables and fruits. Dark yellow or dark green leafy options like sweet potatoes, carrots, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, parsley, spinach, mango, or papaya offer significant benefits. Including 5% of the diet with high-quality, ideally organic, sources of omega-3s is also recommended; examples include chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seeds, or specific nuts. For more insights on the importance and advantages of these items, refer to our article.
It is not advisable to supplement with vitamins or any other bird or animal supplement products.
[For birds suspected of having iron-storage disease: Steer clear of citrus fruits, tomatoes, kiwi, strawberries, and other vitamin C-rich foods. Avoid grapes, currants, raisins, liver, red meat, egg yolk, or dark green vegetables such as spinach, which may be high in iron.]
