A nutritious choice for bird enthusiasts who prefer to make their own bird food or those who frequently treat their feathered friends. This bread mix features added chia, quinoa, and flax.
It can be offered in place of human food to birds that enjoy mealtime with the family.
This mix can comprise up to 30% of the daily diet.
To bake:
To create dough balls:
Quick freeze any unused dough after the first feeding and store frozen dough balls in the original Harrison's bag. Thaw for daily feeding.
Avoid baking in non-stick (PTFE-coated) cookware, as the fumes can be harmful to birds.
If made with additional fruits, vegetables, or nuts, Bird Bread should be considered a "treat" and limited to 10% of the total daily food intake when combined with other treats.
It can be served warm. You can add some flavorings (like vanilla or maple) or herbs as long as they do not alter the nutritional value.
Bird Bread can be stored for 1 week in the refrigerator and up to 6 weeks in the freezer after baking. Baked Bird Bread can be cut into portions, wrapped in plastic wrap, and placed back in the original Harrison's Bird Foods bag for freezer storage.
Do not reheat Bird Bread in plastic containers.
