For Horses
This product is intended to relieve clinical forelimb lameness caused by bone resorption processes in the distal sesamoid (navicular bone) in adult horses.
Active ingredient: Clodronic acid
Pack sizes: 51mg/ml solution for injection, available in a 15ml glass vial.
Indications for use: Osphos® is a bisphosphonate administered via injection, designed to manage clinical symptoms related to navicular syndrome in horses aged 4 years and older. Osphos® is the only bisphosphonate that the FDA has approved for intramuscular administration in horses. The active component, Clodronate, is known from laboratory and in vitro studies to prevent bone resorption by decreasing the number of active osteoclasts, irrespective of the factors causing osteoclast activity, and it also inhibits the formation and breakdown of calcium phosphate crystals within the bone matrix.
Dosage: Administer 1.8mg/kg via intramuscular injection (IM), not exceeding a total dose of 900mg per horse. Distribute the total volume evenly among three different injection sites.
Storage: Store below 25°C in a cool, dry environment. Discard any remaining solution in the vial, as Osphos® does not contain preservatives.
