Selecting the appropriate size kennel for your furry friend is essential to ensuring a positive crate training experience. Kennels are available in various sizes, ranging from small to extra-large, to suit most dog breeds. So, what makes kennel sizes so important? Picture your pet attempting to stand, turn, or sit in a kennel that doesn’t provide enough space. To determine the ideal kennel size for your dog, measure from the top of their head to the floor and then from the tip of their nose to the base of their tail. The kennel height should be 3-4 inches taller and longer than your pet, allowing enough room for them to stand upright, turn around easily, and lie down comfortably! A kennel that’s too small will cause discomfort, while one that’s too large may encourage your pet to relieve themselves inside.
