Product description
Product details Coloured clay powder designed for creating durable terrarium substrates. Terrano Clay Powder is a finely milled mineral clay that allows you to craft natural and permanently stable substrates for your terrarium. This powder acts as a binding agent to consolidate loose materials and forms a malleable, shapeable base that maintains its integrity even after drying. By mixing it with sand, soil, or other mineral components, you can specifically design natural soil profiles, slopes, solid walking areas, and zones suitable for digging. The substrate can be compacted and shaped, resulting in a stable surface that won’t crumble, making it ideal for dry and semi-dry terrariums. Terrano Clay Powder greatly enhances the substrate's stability while promoting a natural aesthetic with functional benefits for ground-dwelling and burrowing terrarium inhabitants. This product is free of artificial additives and serves perfectly as a terrarium substrate, ensuring long-lasting structural integrity and a well-balanced terrarium environment. Product advantages at a glance:
  • Finely milled mineral clay powder for stabilizing terrarium substrates
  • Binds loose substrates to create permanently stable soil structures
  • Perfect for dry and semi-dry terrariums
  • Facilitates the intentional creation of slopes, terraces, and solid walking paths
  • Enhances the natural appearance and functional soil zones
  • Completely free from artificial additives
  • Easy to mix and shape
  • Available in red, yellow, and white
  • Can be combined in various ways with sand, soil, and other mineral substrates
Hint For particularly stable and visually appealing soil areas, it is recommended to build the substrate up in layers, lightly pressing each layer down. By adjusting the clay content, you can achieve varying degrees of hardness, such as firm walking areas alongside loose digging spots. Recommended use Terrano Clay Powder should be incorporated into the substrate as a binding agent. Standard mixture: Mix about 1 part Terrano Clay Powder with 3 to 5 parts sand or soil. Thoroughly combine the dry components and gradually add water until a malleable, slightly damp mixture is achieved. Distribute, compact, and shape the substrate within the terrarium. Once fully dry, the substrate will harden and retain its shape indefinitely. Wet mixing: Combine 1 kg of Terrano Clay Powder with approximately 400 to 600 ml of water until a uniform, plastic clay mass is created. This wet mixture can be seamlessly integrated into the substrate or specifically used for shaping soil zones, terrain features, and solid retreat areas. Once dry, it forms a notably hard and stable surface. The wet mixture allows for even clay distribution within the substrate and controlled drying, making it particularly suitable for intricate design work in terrarium substrates. Recommended substrate depth: At least 3 to 5 cm, deeper for burrowing species. Material requirements as a guideline: 2 kg of Terrano Clay Powder is adequate to stabilize approximately 60 × 40 cm of terrarium floor space using a standard mixing ratio and medium layer thickness. If a higher clay content or intensive shaping is desired, plan to use more material accordingly. The substrate should be completely dry before introducing any animals.
