Product details
Coloured clay powder designed for creating stable terrarium substrates.
Terrano Clay Powder is a finely milled, mineral clay powder perfect for crafting natural and reliably stable substrates in terrariums. It serves as a binding agent to consolidate loose materials and forms a malleable, sculptable base that maintains its structure after drying.
By mixing it with sand, soil, or other mineral substrates, you can design natural soil profiles, slopes, solid walking paths, and areas suitable for digging. The substrate can be compacted and shaped, and once hardened, it provides a stable surface that does not crumble, making it especially suitable for dry and semi-dry terrariums.
Terrano Clay Powder greatly enhances the stability of the substrate while promoting a natural appearance with functional benefits for ground-dwelling and burrowing terrarium inhabitants. This product contains no artificial additives and is ideal for use as a terrarium substrate, ensuring long-lasting structural integrity and a well-balanced terrarium environment.

Hint
For particularly stable and natural-looking soil areas, it’s recommended to build the substrate in layers and gently press each layer down. By adjusting the clay content, you can create varying degrees of hardness, such as firm walking areas alongside loose digging spots.
Recommended use
Terrano Clay Powder should be added to the substrate as a binding component.
Standard mixture: Mix about 1 part Terrano Clay Powder with 3 to 5 parts sand or soil. Thoroughly blend the dry components, then gradually moisten with water until a malleable, slightly damp mixture is achieved. Distribute, compact, and shape the substrate within the terrarium. Once completely dry, the substrate will harden and retain its shape permanently.
Wet mixing: Combine 1 kg of Terrano Clay Powder with approximately 400 to 600 ml of water until a homogeneous, plastic clay mass is formed. This wet mixture can be integrated well into the substrate or used specifically for shaping soil zones, terrain features, and solid retreat areas. Once fully dried, it creates a particularly hard and stable surface. The wet mixture ensures even clay distribution throughout the substrate and controlled drying, making it ideal for detailed terrarium design.
Recommended substrate depth: At least 3 to 5 cm, deeper for burrowing species.
Material requirements as a guideline: 2 kg of Terrano Clay Powder can stabilize approximately 60 × 40 cm of terrarium floor space using a standard mixing ratio and medium layer thickness. If a higher clay content or more intensive modeling is desired, additional material should be planned accordingly.
The substrate should be completely dry before introducing any animals.
